The Grinders Diversify On Sophomore Album “Under Arrest”
by Patrick A. Brown
Following the 2013 album “U-Brown Meets The Grinders – Lets
Keep Jammin” feat. Ranking Joe, The Grinders and Down The
Bush Records have turned their modern day Reggae rub-a-dub
offering up a notch, with a more diversified follow up album titled
“Under Arrest” .
The Grinders along with their label Down The Bush Records who
hails from France, have sought the vocals of the Original 70”
Pionner Dj Ranking Joe, Lady Ann the First lady DanceHall,
Sizzla Kalonji the man of a million rhythms, the talented London-
based Dancehall Mc Tippa Irie, the heavenly and mystical
Abajonai, long time collaborator singer drummer Squidly Cole,
Tabby Diamond the mighty Diamonds lead vocal and U-Brown to
create what they consider to be a very special “vocal blend” for
this project. From the veteran fire branded roots artist Sizzla
Kalonji vibing and echoing over pulsating, yet soothing dub
melodies in “Can’t Sit Down”, to the young and emerging
Abajonai offering words of encouragement in a more bouncy
“Life Goes On”, is proof The Grinders intend to bridge musical
generation gaps with their modern rub-a-dub music.
